Who we are
The MLKD (Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery) Group belongs to the PLaSE (Programming Languages and Software Engineering) Laboratory of the Department of Informatics in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
MLKD was formed in Spring 2004 by members of the former LPIS (Logic Programming and Intelligent Systems) Group and new PhD students involved in Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery research.
News
15/07/2011: Our group achieved the 1st place in the concept-based retrieval sub-task of the photo-annotation task of ImageCLEF 2011.
12/07/2011: PhD student of our group, Eleftherios Spyromitros-Xioufis, ranked 2nd in the cold start track of ECML PKDD 2011 Discovery Challenge (VideoLectures.Net Recommender System).
22/06/2011: Our paper "Mulan: A Java Library for Multi-Label Learning", was accepted for publication in the Journal of Machine Learning Research.
21/06/2011: PhD student of our group, Eleftherios Spyromitros-Xioufis, ranked 7th in the DATA MINING CUP 2011 international student data mining competition.
03/06/2011: Our paper "On the Stratification of Multi-Label Data" was accepted for presentation at ECML PKDD 2011 (acceptance ratio: 20% - 121/599)
15/04/2011: Our paper "Dealing with Concept Drift and Class Imbalance in Multi-label Stream Classification" was accepted for oral and poster presentation at IJCAI 2011 (acceptance ratio: 17% - 227/1325)
21/03/2011: Using Mulan, our group achieved the 1st and 2nd places in the ISMIS 2011 Music Information Retrieval Contest - Music Instruments. Check out our ISMIS 2011 paper on our solutions.
